Medical Students

We are so excited that you are interested in our Family Medicine program at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa! All fourth-year medical students interested in applying to our program can apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). We also offer audition rotations for those students interested in getting to know our program better.     • An unopposed program in a community hospital with a long tradition of Family Medicine-focused practice

    • Training directly with family physicians who practice full-spectrum care, including obstetrics, newborn, and inpatient medicine

    • Fully train for procedures such as colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colposcopy, and other office-based procedures

    • Exposure to various practice settings: urban, suburban, rural, frontier, mobile, federally qualified health center (FQHC), inpatient, outpatient, etc.

    • Broad range of pathology and opportunity for learning

    • Connected with Terry Reilly Health Services, an FQHC, to expand access and care of different patient populations

    • Partnership with the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine, where residents will utilize state-of-the-art resources, including a simulation suite, to add to their knowledge and skills

  • The Family Medicine program at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa offers a limited number of clinical rotations (audition rotations) for fourth-year medical students interested in getting to know our program, faculty, and staff! These rotations are 4-weeks long and take place from August through January of each year. If you are interested in completing a rotation with us, please complete the application linked here.

  • All interested fourth-year medical students can apply to our Family Medicine program at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa through the ERAS system. We will also be participating in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Each eligible applicant’s information will be thoroughly reviewed in consideration of an interview invitation on a first come first served basis

    All eligible applicants will meet the following criteria:

    • Submit application through ERAS

    • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States

    • Must have passing scores in COMLEX/USMLE 1 and 2

    • Must have at least three letters of recommendation

    We will be conducting a hybrid interview model, with some interviews taking place virtually via Thalamus, and some interviews taking place on site at Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa. Our interview schedule for the coming season is:

  • Compensation and Benefits:

    As of July 2024, all MSI residents receive the following salary and benefits as a part of their appointment to the program:

    Salary:

    • PGY1 - $63,100

    • PGY2 - $64,993

    • PGY3 - $66,943

    Benefits:

  • How many residents will you accept for the next academic year?

    • The Family Medicine program will accept 6 residents in the next academic year.

    Does the Family Medicine program follow the NRMP for “all in” policy?

    • Yes. Additional information regarding the “all in” policy may be found on the NRMP website.

    What is the deadline for residency application submission?

    • Please submit your application as soon as possible for the following academic year. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis after ERAS opens. Applicants will be notified if they are invited to interview.

    When will the interviews be held?

    • Typically, interviews are held from mid-October through mid-January.

    Does MSI or Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa sponsor visas?

    • No, we do not sponsor visas.

    Does MSI and Saint Alphonsus Medical Center - Nampa accept applications from international medical school graduates?

    • Yes, we accept applications from US citizen or US permanent resident graduates of International Schools of Medicine who possess a valid ECFMG certificate.

    • For international medical graduates, please contact the Idaho State Board of Medicine to make sure your medical school is an approved school for licensure in Idaho, (208) 327-7000. If not approved, we cannot accept your application.

    Are audition rotations required to be considered for an interview?

    • No, audition rotations are encouraged but not required.

    What are the minimum COMLEX/USMLE scores for consideration into this residency program?

    • Minimum COMLEX/USMLE scores may change year to year. Please reach out to contact@msigmer.org to obtain current minimum score requirements for this program.
